Russian watchdog says can prohibit plant imports from US
MOSCOW, Feb 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Service does not rule out a prohibition on imports of U.S. plants because the U.S. has not taken measures to bar supplies of damaged products, it said in a statement Wednesday.
The service earlier said that it detected infection in corn delivered from the U.S.
“Taking into account the gravity of the situation and the absence of effective measures by the American side, the service reserves the right to introduce restrictive measures for imports of dangerous American plant products,” the watchdog said.
